Background story: La Minita Costa Rica is the world’s most meticulously prepared coffee: from planting, picking, washing, drying. The group is very particular and sorts through the beans at every stage of processing. As a result, less than 25% of the crop ends up branded with the La Minita name.
This same company from Costa Rica now owns an estate in Sumatra and their business practices followed them. The resulting lot is what they used to brand as Aceh Gold Sumatra, also known as Mutu Batak, a clean, complex, washed process coffee.
- Pronounced “Ah–Chay," a region in the upper part of Sumatra
- “La Minita” means “little gold mine”
- Aceh Gold is how we named this coffee
Much cleaner tasting than other Sumatras, this coffee features the same thick and syrupy mouthfeel, slightly spicy notes that many love about Indonesian coffee. However, this bean boasts more complexity than other Sumatras and fewer "earthy" notes. Look for woodsy notes of cedar with a dark, syrupy finish.
TASTING NOTES: Cedar & woods, thick & syrupy mouthfeel
PROCESS: Washed
ROAST LEVEL: Medium Dark
NOTES FOR BREWING: Easy to brew drip and get a thick-bodied cup.
DEGASSING: 1-2 days
LOCAL BENEFIT: For every purchase of this coffee, 10% of profits are donated to Growing Together Aquaponics.
